Sonya A. Lowery, a well-respected authority on the subject of image building for new and emerging businesses is the author of The Secret Language of Business Cards (and what your brochure is saying behind your back). Sonya founded Solaris - House of Fine Graphics in 1999, and as it grew, she diversified to offer clients a more complete graphic design experience which included image consulting. Sonya began to recognize the monumental need to explain to entrepreneurs the relevance of grooming their company images – soon after, the idea for the book was born.

Sonya Lowery attended the University of Maryland at both the Eastern Shore and College Park campuses. She received her formal design education at Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC. Her real education though came from many years of watching new business owners “do it all wrong.” She knew that in order to make a difference, she would first have to find a way to help them discover their “Branding Magic.”

Sonya Lowery pinpoints the areas widely neglected by most small business owners. She explains that in order to “be successful, you must look successful.” Sonya speaks of the importance of leveling the “branding” playing field and makes clear that building a successful image would financially benefit anyone with a small business.
